Brahmasri B. Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji, is the grandson of the most revered Sengalipuram Brahmasri Anantharama Deekshithar and Brahmasri Narayana Deekshithar. He hails from a distinguished family that can trace a record of unbroken performance of ‘Somayagam’ to the last 35 generations! (Important to note that there are only 30 Somayagis now living in Tamilnadu and 108 across the world)!!!

Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji is a Niyama Adyaayi who learnt Vedas from his father, Sri Babu Dikshithar and became a ‘Yajur Veda Krama Paathi’. He has also formally learnt Jyothisam and also a Nitya Agnihotri. He is the ‘Priya Sishya’ of Sri Sri Anna, Krishna Premi Maharaj. In 2004, at a young age of 25, he was honoured as the “Aasthana Vidwan” of Avadhoota Datta Peetam (of Sri Ganapathi Sachitananda Swamy) Mysore, in the presence of the Governor of Karnataka at a mammoth public function.

On stage from the age of eleven, Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji began his first full fledged Upanyasam at the age of 15. He is at home delivering Srimad Ramayanam, Bhagavatham, Narayaneeyam, Vyasa Bharatham, Adi Sankara Vijayam etc. It is a sheer delight to hear his expositions on Sankara’s works like Soundaryalahari, Sivanandalahari, Prashnotra Ratna malika etc. Research and depth are his constant companions and one can appreciate this better from the following : He has been conducting ‘Ayodhya Kandam’ alone in Narada Gaana Sabha,Chennai, in about 45 days spread over four years. Similarly, he has been conducting discourse of one paruva (kandam) each of Vyasa Bharatham, in Srirangam Sringeri Matam for the last four years.

Certainly very few delve into the depths of our Epics, as Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji. This true grandson, of Sengalipuram Parampara, has so far performed “Srimad Bhagavatham” Saptaham and “Srimad Ramayanam” Navaham each for over 550 times. He has the rare privilege of presenting “Srimad Bhagavatham” Saptaham thrice in Guruvayur, once in Pushkar, Badrinath, at banks of Ganga in both Sukasthal and Haridwar. Also, he has presented “Srimad Ramayanam” Navaham in Ayodhya. Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji performed, “AGNISHTOMA SOMAYAAGAM” in 2005 followed by “ATHIRAATHRA SOMAYAAGAM” and “GARUDA CHAYANAM” in 2012, both in the presence of Sri Sri Anna.

In 2015, with the blessings of Lord Sri Guruvayurappan and, his forefathers, Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji also performed “Sri Vaajapayeya Maha Yaagam” and “Sri Brahaspatisava Yaagam” in SriRangam in the presence of Sri Sri Anna. There are only three or four persons now living in the world who have performed the Sri Vaajapayeya Maha Yagnam and Garudacayanam both.

In 2021, Sri Kesava Vaajapeyayaaji was honoured with the title "Dharmathma - Pravachaanam" by Sringeri Jagadguru Sanathana Dharma Vidya Samithi, Chennai. Below are some photos of the event.
